Who we are
The NHAS is an organisation that provides effective nutritional advice for women on an individual basis. It was formed in 1984 by Maryon Stewart to help women overcome premenstrual syndrome. It has subsequently evolved to provide advice to help women sail smoothly through their menopause, overcome symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome as well as addressing other important health issues.

At the time of writing the NHAS is the only organisation of its kind in the world. We are proud of our success rate, as approximately 90 per cent of women report feeling significantly or completely better within four months of starting the nutritional programme devised by the NHAS.

The NHAS is involved in the fields of health education and research and has a depth of knowledge and clinical experience gained from many years of working with tens of thousands of patients, without the use of drugs.

NHAS philosophy
We believe that learning how to balance diet and lifestyle while ensuring an adequate intake of the essential nutrients is the key to optimum health. So many health problems stem from the food we eat, but we often neglect our diet because we do not appreciate the extent to which it can affect our general health and wellbeing. Even if you do not have a specific problem like PMS or IBS, but you feel that you are not quite in peak condition, your diet and lifestyle could be contributory factors.

The NHAS believes that everyone is different so all of our programmes are individually tailored to suit the individual.

Our Approach
The successful NHAS programme is based on published medical and nutritional facts. We take a non-drug approach and specifically seek to address the cause of each patient's ill-health. East individual is asked to complete a comprehensive questionnaire, which contains in-depth questions about their medical history, current symptoms, dietary intake, social activities and lifestyle plus a seven day diet diary.

We then evaluate the response and recommend

  • Personalised Dietary Advice
  • Nutritional Supplements that have been through clinical trials
  • Exercise on a regular basis suited to the needs of the individual

Relaxation programme to reduce stress
We aim to make the services widely available so that we can help women wherever they live. The consultation services are available through:

  • Clinics in London and Sussex
  • Postal and telephone consultations
  • Consultations through the Internet
